Story
Police captain Oleg Dolin awakens after spending two decades in a coma, returning to a city and a profession that have changed beyond recognition. The fast-moving world of the 1990s has given way to digital technology, new investigative methods, and everyday routines shaped by gadgets. While Oleg tries to understand the present, his family life has moved on without him: his daughter has grown up, and members of his former squad have built lives of their own. Rejoining the police force brings a seasoned officer face to face with unfamiliar rules, altered relationships, and a society where his old instincts no longer provide every answer.
Set against a crime-driven storyline with a comic edge, the episode continues the contrast between Oleg's experience and the modern world surrounding him. His return to service creates room for awkward encounters, professional friction, and a fresh look at what justice demands when an officer must learn his own time all over again.
Overview
Cop from the Past is a Ukrainian crime comedy directed by Oleg Borschevsky. The series follows a police captain whose life was interrupted for twenty years, placing a man shaped by the realities of the 1990s inside a radically different law enforcement system. The story combines police investigations with family tension and situational humor, while exploring the distance between past habits and present-day technology.
This episode works within that central premise, bringing together questions of professional identity, lost time, and the difficulty of rebuilding ordinary life after an extraordinary return. Oleg's attempt to serve again carries both personal and procedural complications, giving the crime narrative a human dimension.
