Story
The opening episode introduces police captain Oleg Dolin, a man whose life was interrupted by a graveyard incident and a coma that lasted for two decades. When he finally wakes, the world around him feels unfamiliar. Police work has changed, the methods of the 1990s have faded, and daily life now depends on gadgets and instant access to information.
Oleg must find his place in a society that moved forward without him. His daughter has grown up, former colleagues have built new lives, and the family and affection he once knew have slipped beyond easy reach. Returning to law enforcement gives him a chance to recover his sense of purpose, though adapting to modern procedures proves almost as difficult as confronting the personal losses left behind.
Overview
Cop from the Past combines crime drama with comedy and follows a Ukrainian police captain caught between two very different eras. The story contrasts the direct, physical style of policing associated with Oleg's past against a profession shaped by technology, changing rules, and new social habits.
Directed by Oleg Borschevsky, the series balances investigative tension with situations created by its hero's outdated experience. Oleg brings determination and old-school instincts back to the service, while the world around him demands flexibility, patience, and a fresh understanding of how justice works. Alongside the police cases, the episode establishes a family conflict that gives his return a more personal dimension.
Cast and Characters
Dmitry Surzhykov leads the cast as police captain Oleg Dolin, whose return to active service drives the story. Olga Grishina, Sergey Derevyanko, Daryna Trehubova, and Mykhailo Kryshtal join him in the ensemble, portraying the people connected to Oleg's professional and family life as he tries to rebuild both.
The cast supports the show's blend of police investigation, social comedy, and emotional drama. Their characters help reveal the distance between Oleg's memories and the present day, while also showing how his return affects colleagues, relatives, and the fragile relationships he hoped to recover.
