Story
Captain Oleg Dolin awakens from a coma after two decades and returns to a world he barely recognizes. The former police officer comes from the turbulent 1990s, while the department around him now relies on digital tools, different procedures and a new rhythm of everyday life. His return to law enforcement places him among colleagues whose lives have moved forward, including members of his old squad and a daughter who has grown up without him.
As Oleg tries to recover his professional instincts, he also faces the personal cost of lost time. Family ties, love and duty create a difficult balance for a man learning how to live in the present while carrying the habits and convictions of another era. This episode belongs to a crime comedy built around his attempt to find a place in modern police work.
Overview
Cop from the Past is a Ukrainian crime comedy directed by Oleg Borschevsky. Its central premise combines police cases with the culture shock of a captain returning to service after twenty years in a coma. The story contrasts the methods of a 1990s investigator with a modern environment shaped by gadgets, changing institutions and new expectations.
The series balances professional challenges with family drama, giving Oleg's return an emotional dimension. Alongside the investigation of wrongdoing, the narrative explores adaptation, responsibility and the uneasy process of rebuilding relationships after a long absence.
Cast and Characters
Dmitry Surzhykov leads the cast as Captain Oleg Dolin, a police officer whose career resumes after an extraordinary interruption. Olga Grishina, Sergey Derevyanko, Daryna Trehubova and Mykhailo Kryshtal appear in supporting roles connected with Oleg's professional and personal world.
The ensemble reflects the two sides of the story: the police environment Oleg is trying to re-enter and the family relationships he must understand anew. Their contrasting experiences add both comic tension and human warmth to this crime-focused series.
