Story
In the second episode of Cop from the Past, police captain Oleg Dolin continues adjusting to a life that moved forward while he was trapped in a coma. After two decades away, the streets, the police service and the habits of ordinary people have changed beyond recognition. Digital devices now shape daily routines, information travels at a different speed, and the methods Oleg once relied on belong to another era.
Returning to law enforcement becomes a demanding test of instinct, discipline and adaptability. Oleg must find his place among colleagues who have built new lives, while his own family history has developed without him. The episode draws its tension from the gap between a determined officer formed by the 1990s and a society that expects him to understand a very different present.
Overview
This Ukrainian crime comedy combines a police premise with the awkward humor of a man confronting a future he never had the chance to experience. Oleg's renewed connection with the service gives the story its investigative thread, while his attempts to reconnect with family and colleagues add a personal dimension. The tone balances professional challenges with everyday misunderstandings, allowing the episode to explore how technology, changing social habits and old loyalties affect a police officer starting over.
Directed by Oleg Borschevsky, the series places its central character between two eras. The episode continues that contrast through a contemporary setting, where persistence and experience remain valuable, yet familiar approaches require fresh judgment.
Cast and Characters
Dmitry Surzhykov leads the cast as police captain Oleg Dolin, a man whose return to active service places him at the center of the story's conflicts. Olga Grishina, Sergey Derevyanko, Daryna Trehubova and Mykhailo Kryshtal also appear in the ensemble, portraying the people connected to Oleg's professional and personal life.
The characters around Oleg reflect the world he has missed: colleagues have changed, his daughter has grown up, and family relationships carry the weight of years spent apart. Their interactions give the crime storyline a human focus as Oleg works to rebuild trust, understand the present and continue serving as a police officer.
