Story
This episode follows police captain Oleg Dolin as he tries to find his place in a world that moved on while he was in a coma. After two decades away, the former officer faces unfamiliar technology, changed police methods and a society where information travels instantly. His return to law enforcement brings a collision between the instincts shaped by the 1990s and the demands of modern police work. Alongside professional challenges, Oleg must confront the personal cost of his absence: his daughter has grown up, his former colleagues have built new lives, and the family future he once imagined has slipped out of reach.
The story combines crime-driven situations with comedy rooted in cultural contrast. Oleg's direct, old-school approach creates tension with contemporary routines, while his attempt to rebuild trust gives the episode an emotional thread beneath the investigation.
Overview
Cop from the past is a Ukrainian crime comedy directed by Oleg Borschevsky. The series centers on a police captain whose career and personal life were interrupted for twenty years, forcing him to learn a new professional language and reconsider the relationships he thought would remain unchanged. Familiar police work now unfolds in a world of gadgets, digital information and different expectations of authority.
The episode carries the show's central contrast into a character-driven setting, balancing police tension with the awkwardness of returning to a life that continued without its main figure. Its atmosphere shifts between workplace comedy, family uncertainty and the practical pressure of solving problems in a transformed law-enforcement system.
