Beforeigners

Series Beforeigners — 1 season, 4 episode

Description:

Story

When Lars Haaland’s daughter is caught up in a mysterious accident at sea, the investigation takes on a deeply personal dimension. To keep the case moving, Alfhildr has to seek Norse help, while Lars is pulled between his duties as a police officer and his concern for his family.

The episode combines a tense police inquiry with the series’ distinctive premise of people from the past living in the present. As the partners look into the incident, the question of what really happened at sea becomes harder to ignore. The story keeps its focus on the uneasy partnership between two investigators from very different eras.

Overview

Beforeigners is a Norwegian science-fiction drama with fantasy elements, set in a near future where powerful flashes of light appear in the ocean and people from the Stone Age, the Viking era, and the late nineteenth century begin arriving in the present. These displaced people, known as beforeigners, must find a place in a society that has no precedent for their existence.

Against this unusual social backdrop, burned-out police officer Lars Haaland is paired with Alfhildr, a woman from the Viking Age, to investigate crimes that expose tensions between different eras. Over the course of the season, their work points toward a larger conspiracy behind the mass arrivals. In this fourth episode, the focus turns to an accident at sea that touches Lars’s family and tests the partners’ working relationship.

Cast and Characters

Krista Kosonen plays Alfhildr, a Viking-era investigator who works alongside the modern police. Nicolai Cleve Broch portrays Lars Haaland, a weary police officer whose professional responsibilities become tied to personal worry about his daughter.

The ensemble also includes Stig R. Amdam, Ragnhild Gudbrandsen, and Ylva Bjørkaas Thedin. Together, the cast supports a story built around uneasy partnerships, divided loyalties, and the collision of people shaped by very different historical experiences.
