Overview

Beartown is a Swedish drama series directed by Peter Grönlund. Set against the world of competitive youth hockey, it explores ambition, collective pride, and the heavy burden placed on teenagers who are expected to carry an entire town’s hopes. The sport provides a powerful meeting point for players, parents, coaches, and residents, while also revealing the divisions beneath the community’s united front.

With its focus on moral responsibility and the consequences of a traumatic event, the story builds a tense portrait of a town forced to confront what it values most. The hockey setting brings energy and urgency to the narrative, while the human drama remains centered on vulnerable young people and the adults whose choices affect them.
