Story
Episode 9 of the first season continues the story of Koval, a solitary investigator whose devotion to his work has left little room for a life beyond the case files. He hopes to join the NBR, the department that handles the most complex murder investigations. Around him, a team of eccentric yet loyal professionals becomes a kind of family, bringing warmth, friction and unexpected support to demanding work. Koval's own secrets remain the most painful part of the story.
The series blends detective intrigue, drama and dry comedy. Its central tension grows from the contrast between demanding investigations and the fragile personal connections formed within the team, while Koval's guarded nature gives the story an emotional undercurrent.
Overview
Rabble is a Ukrainian detective comedy-drama directed by Julia Pavlova. The series combines murder investigations with an ensemble portrait of professionals whose unusual personalities become as important to their partnership as their expertise. The workplace setting allows the story to move between procedural tension, understated humor and the gradual creation of trust.
At the center stands a man who has made professional duty his entire world. His hoped-for move into the NBR promises access to the cases he considers most meaningful, while the team around him offers a different kind of challenge: learning how to rely on people, accept loyalty and live with the past. The result is a character-driven crime story with a serious emotional core and a lively group dynamic.
Cast and Characters
The cast is headed by Sergey Strelnikov, joined by Vera Kobzar, Tamara Morozova, Anastasia Korol and Anastasia Rula. The central figure of the story is Koval, a reserved investigator whose dedication to criminal cases shapes both his ambitions and his relationships, and the ensemble forms the professional circle that gradually becomes his closest source of support.
This shared dynamic gives the series its distinctive balance. The characters bring contrasting temperaments to the investigation team, creating room for sharp exchanges, mutual reliance and quieter moments of personal vulnerability. Julia Pavlova directs the ensemble through a story where professional collaboration steadily develops into something more intimate and complicated.
