Story
Sam and Dean Winchester arrive in a small community to look into the murder of a lawyer and his wife. The couple reportedly claimed to have seen a ghost shortly before they were killed, and that detail gives the case an unsettling edge. As the brothers follow the trail, local authorities begin looking into the Winchesters’ own past, and the hunters soon find themselves under arrest.
The episode pairs a tense investigation with the brothers’ familiar road-bound hunt for unexplained forces. Suspicion closes in from several sides as Sam and Dean try to work out what really happened while dealing with the consequences of their unconventional way of life.
Overview
This is the seventh episode of the second season of Supernatural, running about 45 minutes. The season continues the Winchester brothers’ journey across America, where ghouls, vampires, ghosts, spirits and even more frightening entities wait in the dark. Behind every case lies the brothers’ pursuit of the demon who murdered their mother, and their shared work as hunters keeps testing the bond between them.
Blending detective drama, science fiction, fantasy and supernatural horror, the series moves its protagonists from one troubled location to another. In this episode, the murder investigation gives the story a grounded, procedural framework, while the reports of a ghost add an eerie uncertainty. The involvement of the police introduces a very human obstacle to a case already shaped by fear, secrecy and the unexplained.
The series was created by Eric Kripke and produced in the United States.
