Story
Police captain Oleg Dolin awakens after spending two decades in a coma, returning to a world that has moved far beyond the one he knew. The rules of policing have changed, technology shapes everyday life, and the people closest to him have built lives in his absence. His daughter has grown up, his former squad has taken different paths, and the personal connections he once relied on now feel distant. As Oleg tries to understand the present, he must also decide whether there is still a place for a 1990s police officer within modern law enforcement.
This opening episode introduces the central conflict of a crime comedy built around culture shock, professional reinvention, and the difficult return to ordinary life after an extraordinary interruption.
Overview
Cop from the Past combines crime and comedy in a Ukrainian series directed by Oleg Borschevsky. Its premise places a determined police captain from another era among smartphones, new investigative habits, and social changes he could never have anticipated. The contrast creates room for both workplace tension and family drama, as Oleg attempts to reconnect with his daughter, understand what became of his colleagues, and find a workable role in a service that has changed during his absence.
The episode establishes a story about adaptation and second chances while keeping its focus on law enforcement, personal relationships, and the gap between memory and present-day reality.
Cast and Characters
The central character is police captain Oleg Dolin, whose return to active life drives the story. His daughter and former squad members form an important part of the personal world he must rediscover, while the surrounding police team reflects the changing nature of the profession.
The cast includes Dmitry Surzhykov, Olga Grishina, Sergey Derevyanko, Daryna Trehubova, and Mykhailo Kryshtal. Their ensemble supports the series' blend of procedural situations, family complications, and comic friction between different generations.
