Story
Four strangers meet at the funeral of a woman they all once dated. She was a soldier who died on the front line, and she invited each of them to be there, though none of them knows why. At her favorite bar, their stories about her slowly shift into stories about themselves. As the group talks, their accounts reveal personal histories, unresolved feelings, and the different ways each of them experienced the same woman. The series builds its drama through conversation and emotional tension, keeping one question alive: why did she want these four people in the same room?
The story stays close to the characters as grief opens old wounds and pushes four very different people to examine their connection with the woman they lost. Its atmosphere is intimate and reflective, shaped by the weight of wartime loss.
Overview
Burying the Ex is a 2025 Ukrainian drama series directed by Serhii Kulybyshev. This is episode 10 of season 1, running about 21 minutes. The series draws its tension from a confined gathering, shifting memories, and the contrast between a shared loss and four individual versions of the past. Rather than presenting grief as a single experience, it observes how remembrance changes from person to person.
The bar becomes a natural setting for confession and confrontation, allowing the characters' stories to reach beyond the funeral itself. The drama combines a quiet, character-focused mood with a deeper question about identity: when people remember someone they once loved, how much of that memory belongs to the person who died, and how much reflects their own lives?
