The Penguin

Series The Penguin — 1 season, 2 episode

Description:

Story

In the aftermath of a devastating flood, Gotham City is left vulnerable and its criminal order begins to fracture. Oswald “Oz” Cobb sees an opening to rise through the ranks and claim the influence once held by Carmine Falcone. His ambitions bring him into conflict with powerful rivals, including Sofia Falcone and the Maroni crime family, while his damaged reputation makes every move harder to control.

Inside Man belongs to a tense chapter of Oz’s struggle for authority. The episode’s setting is shaped by shifting loyalties, organized crime and the pressure of a city searching for stability. Oz must balance his hunger for power with a deeply personal promise to his mother, Francis, as enemies close in and trust becomes a rare and costly commodity.

Overview

The Penguin is a crime drama with fantasy elements set in the world of Gotham. The story continues after the events of The Batman, focusing on the underworld rather than the city’s masked protector. Flood-damaged streets, rival criminal factions and the collapse of an established dynasty create the backdrop for a struggle driven by ambition, fear and family loyalty.

The series follows a man determined to transform a humiliating nickname into a symbol of power. Its atmosphere is dark and grounded, with personal grievances carrying as much weight as strategic alliances. Oz’s path through Gotham’s criminal hierarchy is complicated by the Falcone legacy, the Maroni family’s influence and the unpredictable consequences of trying to build a future on another man’s downfall.

Cast and Characters

Colin Farrell leads the ensemble as Oswald “Oz” Cobb, the ambitious gangster at the center of Gotham’s power struggle. Deirdre O’Connell plays his mother, Francis, whose wellbeing drives much of Oz’s determination to secure a better life. Cristin Milioti appears as Sofia Falcone, the daughter of Carmine Falcone and Oz’s formidable rival. Clarence J. Brown III and Carmen Ejogo round out the principal cast, adding further weight to the series’ network of influential figures.

The characters are bound by competing loyalties and uncertain alliances. Oz’s rise places him between established crime families and forces him to confront both external opposition and the reputation that has followed him through Gotham’s underworld.
