Movie The Alto Knights (2025)

Story

New York becomes the battleground for two powerful organized crime bosses, Frank Costello and Vito Genovese. Once bound by friendship, the men begin to drift apart as rivalry, jealousy, and betrayal erode their trust. Their struggle for control of the city's streets draws them toward a personal conflict with consequences that reach far beyond their own criminal world, touching the future of the Mafia and the course of American life.

Barry Levinson's crime drama traces the relationship between two formidable figures whose shared history gives their confrontation an especially intimate edge. The tension grows through competing ambitions and broken loyalties, keeping the focus on the choices that transform former allies into dangerous adversaries.

Overview

The Alto Knights combines crime, drama, and biography in a story centered on power, friendship, and betrayal. Set against the world of organized crime in New York, the film examines how private resentments can intensify a struggle for public control. Its dramatic core comes from the contrast between Costello and Genovese: two men connected by the past yet pulled toward opposing goals.

Their contest reflects the unstable balance within a criminal organization and suggests how decisions made in the city's underworld can influence a wider society. The result is a tense character-driven account of ambition and loyalty, shaped by the atmosphere of New York and the pressure of a rivalry that neither side can easily contain.
