Series NCIS — 2 season, 5 episode

Story

An investigation begins when NCIS agents discover that a Marine bombing range has been used by the mafia as a hidden dumping ground. The grim discovery takes on greater urgency after one of the victims is identified as an undercover FBI agent. As the team traces the links between the killings, military property and organized crime, attention turns toward the possibility of a mole within the investigation. The case demands careful handling, since every lead may expose sensitive information and place the remaining agents at risk.

The episode combines a methodical crime investigation with the tension of an espionage case. Evidence gathered at the range opens a path into a wider network, while the search for an insider creates suspicion around the people closest to the operation. The story keeps its focus on procedure, loyalty and the consequences of a compromised investigation.

Overview

NCIS is an action crime drama built around a team of special agents who investigate offenses connected to Navy and Marine Corps personnel. Their cases can involve murder, espionage, terrorism and military secrets, bringing the investigators into contact with both official institutions and dangerous criminal networks. This episode places that investigative framework against a mafia operation and an internal security threat.

Directed by Donald P. Bellisario, the series balances fieldwork, forensic reasoning and team dynamics. The episode's setting gives the story a tense procedural atmosphere, with the bombing range serving as the starting point for a case that reaches beyond the original crime scene.

Cast and Characters

Mark Harmon and Sean Murray are part of the principal cast, bringing the central NCIS team to the investigation. Their performances support the episode's focus on disciplined teamwork, professional trust and the pressure created by a possible leak.

The story also places FBI personnel, Marines and organized-crime figures within the team's orbit. Their competing interests broaden the case and keep the agents uncertain about who can be trusted as they pursue the killer and search for the source of the leak.
