Story

Drawing on his gift for reading behavior and uncovering hidden details, he devises a dangerous way to help the girl revisit the frightening moments she has blocked from her mind. The attempt could reveal what happened, yet it also risks intensifying her trauma and exposing Jane to an unpredictable situation.

Overview

The Mentalist follows Patrick Jane, a former celebrity psychic whose public act depended on sharp observation, psychological insight, and a remarkable ability to read people. After the murder of his wife and child by the elusive serial killer Red John, Jane abandons his former life and puts his talents to work helping the California Bureau of Investigation solve serious crimes.

Each case brings a new puzzle built from behavior, secrets, and conflicting accounts. Jane's methods often unsettle the detectives around him, while his personal pursuit of Red John gives the crime drama a continuing thread of grief, determination, and unresolved danger.
