Monterossi - La serie

Series Monterossi - La serie (2022)

Description:

Story

Carlo Monterossi becomes an investigator almost by accident, driven by anger, curiosity and a persistent need to understand what lies beneath the surface. His search for the truth leads him into a tangled case involving two highly educated professional killers, figures pursuing revenge, and collectors and smugglers dealing in Nazi-fascist memorabilia. Along the way, Monterossi encounters startling personal connections, a woman whose past seems to contain several different lives, and traces of an older cruelty that continues to shape the present.

Moving between sharp comedy and darker crime drama, the story follows a reluctant detective whose ironic detachment is constantly challenged by the human cost of the mysteries he uncovers. Every clue opens another question, while the investigation draws him toward people who have learned to conceal their motives behind respectable appearances.

Overview

Monterossi - La serie is an Italian crime comedy directed by Roan Johnson and inspired by Alessandro Robecchi's crime novels. The series combines investigative tension with dry humor, unusual characters and a distinctly personal view of justice. Its atmosphere shifts from wry and conversational to uneasy as Carlo moves through a world of hidden histories, criminal schemes and unresolved resentment.

The tone rests on the contrast between Monterossi's ironic indolence and his deeper, more troubled search for meaning. The result is a character-led mystery shaped by clever exchanges, eccentric suspects and a case that reaches far beyond its apparent starting point.

Cast and Characters

Fabrizio Bentivoglio leads the cast as Carlo Monterossi, a sharp-minded investigator whose curiosity repeatedly places him at the center of danger. Diego Ribon, Tommaso Ragno and Carla Signoris are also part of the ensemble, bringing further dimension to a story populated by killers, avengers, collectors, smugglers and people carrying secrets from the past.

Roan Johnson directs this adaptation of Robecchi's crime fiction, preserving the balance between sardonic comedy and an investigation marked by violence, deception and elusive clues.
