David Heyman
David Heyman, born July 26, 1961 in London (Great Britain), is a British producer, creator of the production company Heyday Films and known for having produced the Harry Potter series. David Heyman was born in London, England, but was educated in the United States, earning a degree in art history from Harvard University in 1983. He is the son of John Heyman, producer of films such as The Messenger and Jesus, and Norma Heyman, producer of Dangerous Liaisons and Madame Henderson Presents. He made his debut in the film industry as a production assistant on David Lean's The Road to India. In the late 1980s, he became vice president of United Artists and subsequently began an independent career, producing the film Juice in 1992, followed by The Stoned Age in 1994. In 1997, David Heyman returned to London and decided to produce film adaptations of books. He founded his own production company, Heyday Films. He produced a number of notable films, including the eight-film Harry Potter film series, beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2001 and ending with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 2011. He will also produce from from the 2016 spin-off series written by the author of Harry Potter: Fantastic Beasts. Heyman makes a cameo as a wizard in an animated portrait on the DVD of the third film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. In 2005, Heyman served as executive producer of the CBS television series, Threshold: First Contact. In 2007, he produced the film I Am Legend with Will Smith and in 2008, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas with David Thewlis and Yes Man with Jim Carrey. After the Harry Potter films, David Heyman remains in adaptations with The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, directed by Steve Kloves (screenwriter of the Harry Potter series), and Paddington Bear. He is also developing projects with Harry Potter directors Alfonso Cuarón and David Yates. He is producing Alfonso Cuarón's sci-fi film Gravity, while he is working on David Yates' war drama St. Nazaire. He is married to the decorator Rose Uniacke. They have a child.
