Movie Land (2021)

Story

After an unfathomable personal event leaves her unable to remain connected to the life she once knew, Edee withdraws from the world and seeks refuge in the remote wilderness of the Rocky Mountains. The landscape offers distance from her grief, yet its beauty comes with severe demands. Isolated and unprepared for the risks around her, she faces a daily struggle for survival. When a local hunter finds her close to death and brings her back to safety, Edee must confront the harder task of rebuilding a life and discovering whether she can allow human connection to return.

Quiet and emotionally focused, the story follows a woman moving through grief, solitude, and the uncertain first steps toward recovery. Its tension grows from the contrast between the vast Rockies and the fragile inner world Edee carries with her.

Overview

Land is a drama directed by Robin Wright, set against the unforgiving wilderness of the American Rockies. The film keeps its attention on one woman’s attempt to create a new rhythm far from the society she once inhabited. Survival brings practical challenges, while the surrounding silence gives her painful memories nowhere to hide.

The setting shapes every part of the experience, from the harshness of the elements to the rare moments of compassion that interrupt Edee’s isolation. Rather than relying on spectacle, the film develops its emotional force through restrained performances, natural surroundings, and a close study of resilience. The result is an intimate drama about loss, endurance, and the possibility of beginning again.
