Story
When Leonard and Sheldon's apartment is robbed, the loss of their belongings quickly gives way to a larger concern: how to keep it from happening again. They turn to their friends for help, and together the group sets out to create a state-of-the-art security system.
A simple break-in becomes a shared project. It sets the friends' very different habits and priorities against one another and leaves plenty of room for comic friction in the apartment they all know so well.
Overview
The Big Bang Theory is an American comedy series built around the everyday collisions between scientific enthusiasm, friendship, romance and ordinary domestic problems. This is episode 13 of Season 3, a compact installment of about twenty minutes that keeps the focus close to home and turns an apartment robbery into a showcase for the group's inventive thinking and eccentric routines.
The season's wider backdrop is Leonard's relationship with Penny, which has opened up a big, wide world of romance for him, while Sheldon would prefer the world to stay exactly as it was. That tension gives the episode's self-contained story a lively, good-humored setting.
Cast and Characters
Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons play Leonard and Sheldon, the roommates whose home is at the center of the story and whose contrasting temperaments shape the group's response. Kaley Cuoco appears as Penny, whose practical, grounded outlook is a familiar counterweight to the physicists' more elaborate thinking.
Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar round out the central ensemble as Howard and Raj. As always, the comedy comes from the dynamics among the friends, whose skills, opinions and quirks collide whenever they take on a problem together.
