U Are the Universe (2025)

Story

After Earth is destroyed in a catastrophic explosion, Ukrainian space trucker Andriy finds himself alone in the universe. His routine among the stars is interrupted when Catherine, a French woman living on a distant space station, reaches him by radio. Their connection gives Andriy a reason to leave the relative safety of his route and attempt a journey toward her, despite the obstacles scattered across the vastness of space.

U Are the Universe follows a personal mission shaped by isolation, courage, and the fragile possibility of human contact. The story keeps its focus on the bond forming between two strangers who have never met, while science fiction, adventure, and comedy give the journey a distinctive tone. The scale is cosmic, yet the emotional core remains intimate: one person searching for another voice in an otherwise silent universe.

Overview

Directed by Pavlo Ostrikov, this science fiction adventure brings together Ukrainian, Belgian, and French production contexts. Its premise places a lone space trucker at the center of an unusual voyage, where practical obstacles and the sheer distance between worlds test his determination. Moments of humor sit alongside a sense of solitude, creating an accessible story about connection and the choices people make when hope arrives from an unexpected direction.

The film combines a high concept setting with a clear human question: how far would someone travel to meet the only person who can answer? Its compact cast and focused premise keep attention on Andriy and Catherine as their remote conversation develops into a difficult, deeply personal expedition.
