Story
In the remote wilderness of Lapland, solitary prospector Aatami Korpi is searching for gold when his journey takes a dangerous turn. A chance encounter with a Nazi patrol draws him into a relentless pursuit across a landscape scarred by war, destruction, and hidden mines. With the patrol closing in and the wilderness offering little safety, Aatami must rely on endurance, instinct, and an uncompromising will to survive.
The story unfolds as a lean, hard-edged action thriller shaped by the brutal conditions of northern Finland. Gold, military violence, and the vast terrain drive the conflict, while the isolated setting gives every pursuit and confrontation a heightened sense of danger. The film keeps its focus on survival under extreme pressure, building tension through movement, hostile surroundings, and the clash between one determined man and an armed patrol.
Overview
Sisu combines action and war-film elements in a stark tale of pursuit set against the Lapland wilderness. Its atmosphere is severe and physical, with the ravaged landscape serving as both an obstacle and a source of suspense. The contrast between Aatami's solitary search for gold and the organized threat of the Nazi patrol gives the film a clear, direct premise.
Directed by Jalmari Helander, the Finnish-British production emphasizes momentum, danger, and rugged survival. The story stays focused on a single chase, allowing the setting and the pressure of the pursuit to shape the experience. Viewers can expect a compact story with a forceful atmosphere, wartime tension, and a protagonist whose determination is tested against overwhelming circumstances.
