Movie Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021)

Story

Deep in the Montana wilderness, a young boy becomes the target of two relentless assassins. His only chance of survival rests with a skilled survival expert who takes responsibility for getting him to safety. Their escape unfolds across an unforgiving landscape, where every movement can expose their position and danger can arrive from more than one direction.

As the pursuit intensifies, a fast-moving forest fire closes in around them. The flames transform the wilderness into a shifting maze of smoke, heat, and limited escape routes, forcing the fugitives to rely on instinct, courage, and one another. The boy’s vulnerability gives the chase an emotional core, while the presence of trained killers keeps the tension focused and immediate.

Overview

Those Who Wish Me Dead combines action, crime, drama, and thriller elements in a survival story set against the rugged scenery of Montana. Taylor Sheridan directs this Canadian-American production, balancing a personal mission of protection with the mounting threat of violence and wildfire.

The film builds its suspense through a tightening conflict between pursuit and escape. The wilderness offers distance from the outside world, yet its dangers make concealment increasingly difficult. Fire, isolation, and the determination of the assassins create a harsh setting for a story about responsibility, endurance, and the instinct to protect someone who cannot defend himself alone.

Cast and Characters

Angelina Jolie leads the cast in the role of the survival expert charged with protecting the endangered boy. Jon Bernthal, Nicholas Hoult, Aidan Gillen, Jake Weber, and the wider ensemble support the film’s tense network of pursuers and people caught in the dangerous escape.

The central relationships shape the emotional direction of the story: a vulnerable child depends on an experienced protector, while two assassins keep the threat close behind. The characters move through a crisis where trust, quick decisions, and physical endurance determine how far they can get.
