Story
Zhenya Horobchik is a Kyiv photographer whose charm has made him popular with women, although his personal life is becoming increasingly difficult to manage. Originally from Zhashkiv, he is searching for work when an unexpected romance adds another complication to an already crowded life. Zhenya has a wife, a son, an ex-wife and a growing list of problems that pull him in different directions. Caught between desire, family obligations and the consequences of his choices, he reaches a point of deep emotional exhaustion and begins to question how he can continue living this way.
Blending comedy with drama, the story follows a man whose appealing confidence gradually gives way to confusion and pressure. Its central conflict grows from everyday relationships, divided loyalties and the uncomfortable gap between romantic impulse and responsibility. The tone balances awkward situations with a darker emotional undercurrent, keeping the focus on Zhenya's attempt to find a way through the turmoil he has helped create.
Overview
Don Juan from Zhashkiv is a Ukrainian comedy-drama directed by Viktor Butok. The film draws its tension from a familiar social setting: work is uncertain, family ties are complicated, and new feelings arrive before old responsibilities have been resolved. Kyiv and Zhenya's connection to Zhashkiv provide the backdrop for a character-driven story about relationships that refuse to remain neatly separated.
The film explores romantic restlessness, domestic strain and the search for personal direction. Humor emerges from the collision between Zhenya's habits and the demands placed on him, while the dramatic elements give weight to the people affected by his decisions. Viewers can expect a relationship-focused narrative with a lively premise, uncomfortable choices and a more serious emotional edge beneath its comic surface.
Cast and Characters
Slava Babenkov leads the cast as Zhenya Horobchik, the photographer at the center of the story. Nadiia Meikher, Roman Yasinovsky, Michael Homa and Oleg Karpenko also appear in the film. Together, the performers populate the complicated personal world surrounding Zhenya, where marriage, a past relationship, parenthood and new attraction create an ongoing source of tension.
The film keeps its character focus close to Zhenya and the relationships shaping his choices. Rather than presenting his situation as a simple romantic adventure, the story examines the pressure created when affection, loyalty and responsibility pull in opposing directions.
