Movie Cruella (2021)

Story

In 1970s London, Estella is a gifted young designer with a sharp instinct for style and a taste for mischief. Living by her wits, she forms an alliance with two young thieves who share her appetite for risk, and the trio builds a place for themselves amid the city’s restless streets and punk rock energy.

Estella’s talent soon attracts the attention of Baroness von Hellman, a celebrated fashion figure whose polished public image is matched by an intimidating reputation. Their connection draws Estella into a dangerous struggle shaped by ambition and unexpected revelations. As the pressure mounts, her softer instincts give way to a bolder identity, leading toward the flamboyant and revenge-driven figure known as Cruella.

Overview

Cruella combines crime, comedy and drama in a stylish origin story set against London’s fashion scene. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film follows a determined outsider as she fights for recognition in a world ruled by status, influence and uncompromising taste. The story balances sharp humor with emotional tension, tracing the choices that push a resourceful designer toward a more rebellious persona.

Fashion serves as the film’s central arena, where imagination becomes a form of power and personal style carries real consequences. The contrast between Estella’s scrappy beginnings and the Baroness’s polished authority gives the narrative its driving conflict, while the London setting adds a vivid sense of movement, danger and creative freedom.
