Story
A decomposed body turns up in a tub of acid at a naval base, leaving investigators with a case designed to conceal both the victim's identity and the circumstances of the death. Ducky and Abby examine the remains and establish that the victim served aboard a submarine. The discovery raises an unsettling question: why has no missing-person report been filed for a submariner?
As the investigation develops, the team must work through limited evidence, a concealed identity and the tightly controlled world of naval service. The episode combines a grim forensic mystery with the procedural detail of an NCIS investigation, keeping the focus on the unanswered questions surrounding the victim and the people who may know more than they reveal.
