Merited Artist of the RSFSR (06/09/1964). People's Artist of the RSFSR (2.07.1971). The father is the artist Vladimir Afanasyevich Podgorny (1887-1944). Uncle - artist Nikolai Afanasyevich Podgorny (1879-1947). In 1954 he graduated from the Theater School named after MS. Schepkina. Since 1954 - actor of the academic Maly Theater. The first role in the Maly Theater is Nikolai in the “House of Cards” by Oleg Stukalov. He passed away on September 24, 1982 in a Moscow hospital from cancer. He was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery of Moscow (station number 38). For the first time, N. Podgorny’s voice “sounded” on radio in 1956 in a performance (broadcast recording) of the State Academic Maly Theater of the USSR “The Summer of the Younger Brother” by Latvian playwright G. Prieda. The last recording on the radio, dated 1982, is the radio play Princess Mary, staged by A. Batalov after M. Lermontov's novel A Hero of Our Time. N.
