Farhan Akhtar is an Indian director, actor, producer, screenwriter and TV host. Farhan was born on January 9, 1974 in Bombay to the family of screenwriter Javed Akhtar and his wife Hani Irani. His older sister is screenwriter and director Zoya Akhtar. His parents divorced during the first days of his life, and in 1984 his father married actress Shabane Azmi, who became his stepmother. Farhan began his career as an assistant director in the film “Moments of Love” (1991) when he was 17 years old, and then opened the Script Shop agency, where he spent the next 3 years. He was also an assistant to Pankaj Parashar on the set of Himalay Putra in 1997. In 1999, he opened Excel Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. with Riteesh Vidhwani. In 2006, Akhtar released the film “Don. Mafia Leader ”, which was a remake of the 1978 film of the same name and also had a commercial success at the box office as an original. Dialogues were especially remembered by the audience. In 2008, he made his acting and singing debut in the movie “Play Rock !!”, in which he performed five songs, and also used his guitar skills, which he improved from the beginning of his directorial career. The film was a commercial success, and Akhtar received the Filmfare Award for the best debut male role. In 2013, he starred in the film “Run, Milka, Run!”, Where he played runner-sprinter Milku Singh. For the sake of the role, he trained for a long time, studied the biography of Milka himself and grew a beard. The film was a commercial success and brought him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor. In 2015, Farhan played one of the supporting roles in his sister's film “Let the Heart Beat”, which was commercially successful, and sang one of the songs to him in a duet with Priyanka Chopra.
