Film director, screenwriter, producer. Born in Leningrad into the family of a famous film director, a classic of Russian cinema, People's Artist of the USSR Joseph Kheifits. By first education - philologist (English language and literature): in 1974 he graduated from Leningrad State University. For some time he was engaged in literary translations, but soon he completely switched to the cinema. Already in the graduation year, the 23-year-old Dmitry Svetozarov worked at the Lenfilm film studio as an assistant to the director Ilya Averbakh in the film “Alien Letters” (1975), then with Joseph Kheifits on the film “Asya” (1977).
