Director, screenwriter, writer. Born in Orel in 1974. Studied at the director’s faculty of the Film Institute VGIK, made music clips for the groups Bi-2, Spleen, Nogu Svelo! [Twisted Leg], Nochnye Snaipery [Night Snipers], Kasta, Mashina Vremeni [Time Machine], etc. Published two collections of prose. His full-length debut “Franz+Polina” received recognition at many Russian and international festivals. In 2011 he adapted one of his short stories for the short film “World of Fixture”, which won the competition Kinotavr.Shorts. In 2012 he made the feature film “Short Stories”, which received the prize for Best Script and a Diploma of the Guild of Film Scholars and Critics at Kinotavr-2012. With his third film “Film about Alexeev” (2014) he participated in Kinotavr’s competition. “Elephants Can Play Football” is his fourth feature film.
