Mikhail Kalatozishvili

Soviet and Russian film director, actor and screenwriter. Grandson of the famous Soviet director Mikhail Kalatozov (1903-1973). He studied at VGIK, at the directing department in the studio of the People’s Artist of the USSR Yefim Dzigan. He worked at the film studio "Georgia-film". In 1996 he became director of the Lenfilm film studio. Kalatozishvili’s first major film was “First After God”, where he was one of the producers. In 2008, he acted as a director and producer of the film “Wild Field”. The film was awarded numerous prizes and awards. He died of a heart attack on October 12, 2009.
