Story
Carlo Monterossi has built a successful career writing television, yet private life has left him dissatisfied and restless. One night, a gunman appears outside his door, turning an unsettling encounter into a personal investigation. Driven by anger, curiosity, and a growing need to understand what happened, Carlo begins tracing the motive behind the attempted murder.
His search leads into a dangerous world populated by two highly trained killers, a mysterious “dead man” determined to reclaim a hidden treasure, and a woman whose past seems to contain several different lives. As Carlo follows clues that grow stranger and more difficult to read, the case draws him into a maze of concealed identities, old secrets, and unexpected connections. The story balances criminal tension with dry humor, keeping its central detective caught between ironic detachment and a genuine desire for the truth.
Overview
Monterossi - La serie brings the crime fiction of Alessandro Robecchi to the screen through a distinctly Italian blend of investigation and comedy. The season follows an amateur detective whose professional talent for inventing stories offers little protection when real danger enters his life. His curiosity opens the door to a case involving carefully prepared violence, elusive motives, and people who are far more complicated than their first appearances suggest.
Directed by Roan Johnson, the series moves between witty observation and darker criminal elements without losing sight of Carlo’s personal unease. The atmosphere combines urban mystery, eccentric encounters, and a persistent sense that every answer may reveal another question. Its appeal comes from the contrast between an ordinary man placed in an extraordinary investigation and a gallery of characters carrying secrets of their own.
Cast and Characters
Fabrizio Bentivoglio leads the cast as Carlo Monterossi, a television writer whose encounter with a would-be killer pushes him into the role of investigator. His approach relies on persistence, intuition, and a human curiosity that often brings him closer to danger.
Diego Ribon, Tommaso Ragno, and Carla Signoris join Bentivoglio in the principal ensemble. Around Carlo, the season gathers professional killers, elusive figures connected to a stolen treasure, and a woman surrounded by unanswered questions. Together, these characters create the shifting network of motives and relationships at the heart of the investigation.
