Series Dune: Prophecy — 1 season, 1 episode

Story

On Wallach IX, a young Valya Harkonnen makes a solemn promise to Mother Superior Raquella: she will safeguard the Sisterhood by ensuring that one of its own reaches the Imperial Throne. Three decades later, Valya has devoted her life to that long-range design, yet a new threat places the future of the order in danger. As duty, ambition, and loyalty collide, she must decide how far she is prepared to go to preserve the Sisterhood’s influence.

Set 10,000 years before the rise of Paul Atreides, the episode introduces a political struggle shaped by secret plans, inherited rivalries, and the fragile balance of power across the Imperium. Its atmosphere combines science-fiction intrigue with family tension and the disciplined, conspiratorial world that will eventually give rise to the Bene Gesserit.

Overview

Dune: Prophecy is an action-driven science-fiction drama with elements of adventure, fantasy, and political suspense. The story unfolds long before the events associated with House Atreides, during an era when humanity is still rebuilding after an alliance of humans defeated the thinking machine armies that had nearly destroyed civilization.

Directed by Anna J. Foerster, the series explores the origins of the Sisterhood and the methods through which it gathers power. The episode places Valya at the center of that emerging order, following the early promise that defines her purpose and the later crisis that challenges her carefully constructed plans. Alongside its larger questions about control and the future of humankind, the narrative begins to examine the roots of the Harkonnen and Atreides families.

Cast and Characters

Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, and Mark Strong lead the ensemble. The episode’s central figure is Valya Harkonnen, a determined member of the Sisterhood whose pledge to protect its future drives the story.
