Story
In Odesa of 1926, the scars of war stand beside the sound of jazz and the first bold experiments of a new cinema. Young artist Sashko Dovzhenko longs to shape a freer kind of art, yet his ambitions lead him into a world governed by suspicion and rigid control. When he takes on his first film, creative discovery quickly becomes a dangerous test of nerve. The project could open a path toward recognition, or cost him far more than he expects. Against the restless energy of the city, Sashko must protect his vision while confronting a system that does not forgive independent dreams.
History, adventure and thriller elements come together in a story about artistic courage, political pressure and the price of finding one’s own voice. The film captures a pivotal moment when cinema is still searching for its language, while its young protagonist faces forces determined to define that language for him.
