Overview

Lisa Frankenstein blends horror, melodrama, and comedy into a stylized story of teenage alienation and unconventional romance. Its late-1980s setting gives the film a distinctive period atmosphere, while the supernatural premise opens the door to eccentric humor, grotesque situations, and emotionally charged encounters.

The tone moves between affection and menace, allowing tender moments to sit beside grisly complications. The central relationship drives the film forward as the pair pursue an idea of happiness that demands increasingly extreme solutions. Viewers can expect a playful macabre mood, a rebellious coming-of-age perspective, and a love story shaped by the rules of the supernatural.
