Barb Wire

Movie Barb Wire (1996)

Description:

Story

In the fractured United States, Steel Harbor remains one of the few places beyond direct fascist control. Barb Wire runs a nightclub there, while secretly taking on dangerous mercenary work for clients who can afford her services. Her carefully guarded independence comes under pressure when scientist Cora Devonshire walks into the club and becomes entangled in a covert government operation involving biological weapons.

Cora’s presence draws Barb back into the orbit of Axel Hood, her former lover and Cora’s husband. Axel now fights as a guerrilla, giving the mission a deeply personal edge. Surrounded by armed forces, hidden motives, and shifting loyalties, Barb must decide how far she will go to protect Cora and survive the conflict closing in around them. The story combines hard-edged action with a tense relationship drama set against a dystopian science-fiction backdrop.

Overview

Directed by David Hogan, Barb Wire (1996) brings together action and science fiction in a story shaped by political oppression, underground resistance, and personal history. Its setting places a tough nightclub owner at the center of a struggle involving military power and biological weapons, mixing nightclub scenes with covert dealings and direct confrontation.

The film’s central appeal comes from the contrast between Barb’s professional composure and the emotional complications created by Axel’s return. Cora’s arrival turns a dangerous situation into a conflict that reaches beyond money or survival. Pamela Anderson leads the cast, with Temuera Morrison, Jack Noseworthy, Udo Kier, and Steve Railsback in supporting roles.
