Animation The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026)

Story

Mario and Luigi have already stopped Bowser's attempt to marry Princess Peach, yet peace across the Mushroom Kingdom proves short-lived. A new challenge arrives in the form of Bowser Jr., who sets out to free his imprisoned father and revive the family's fading legacy. His campaign sends the brothers on a journey beyond familiar kingdoms, across a dazzling expanse of stars where old allies and unexpected companions join the fight. As the young heir pushes forward with determination, Mario and Luigi must find a way to protect their friends, contain a growing threat, and bring the interstellar conflict to an end without losing sight of what holds their team together.

Filled with comic rivalry, fantastical worlds, and a sense of discovery, the adventure expands the brothers' familiar story into a space-faring quest. The plot keeps its focus on family loyalty, inherited ambition, and the uneasy line between a child's devotion and the consequences of following a powerful legacy.

Overview

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie brings together comedy, adventure, family entertainment, and fantasy in a colorful journey through the stars. Produced across Japan and the United States, the film builds its story around the enduring clash between Mario's determination and the ambitions of the Koopa family. The setting allows the action to move beyond the usual boundaries of the Mushroom Kingdom, introducing a broader cosmic scale while preserving the playful spirit of the franchise.

Michael Jelenic directs a story designed to balance energetic action with character-driven humor. Mario and Luigi remain at its center, while Bowser Jr. provides a younger and more emotionally charged counterpart to the familiar villainous force.
