Peter Nosov

Petr Nikolaevich Nosov (April 23, 1907 - July 11, 1971) was a Soviet animator-director and animation designer. Born April 23, 1907 in Kiev. Older brother of the famous writer Nikolai Nosov. In 1923–24 he studied at the art-industrial vocational school. From 1927 to 1929 he studied in the Kiev Art Institute at the cinema department. In 1931, his name was first mentioned as an artist in the credits of the film “Street Across” directed by Lev Atamanov and Vladimir Suteev, filmed at the Mezhrabpomfilm film studio. The following years he worked on the release of the satirical cartoon magazine "Crocodile". From 1934 to 1942, Nosov traveled the path from a cartoon artist to a production designer. He works first at Moskinokombinat, then at Mosfilm and, finally, at Soyuzmultfilm. In 1943 he moves to directing activities. From 1944 to 1954, he worked in creative collaboration with director Olga Khodataeva as co-director and production designer at the same time. Also collaborated with Viktor Fedorovich Smirnov. Since 1955, begins to work as a director on his own. Such artists as Vladimir Arbekov, Konstantin Karpov, Pyotr Repkin, Igor Znamensky, Max Zherebchevsky and others worked with Peter Nosov. He died on July 11, 1971.
