Honored Artist of the RSFSR (09/19/1979). People's Artist of the Russian Federation (11/29/2003). He graduated from the philological faculty of the Central Asian State University (1957), and in 1960 - the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute. Since 1960 - an artist of the Tashkent Russian Theater, where, while still a 3rd year student, he played Raskolnikov (“Crime and Punishment”). In 1962-1987 - an actor of the Leningrad BDT. Since 1963, he performed on the stage with the one-man show Hamlet, put on a series of one-man shows on Shakespeare, Pushkin, Griboedov, Irakli Abashidze and his plays. In 1992 he created and headed the State Pushkin Theater Center in St. Petersburg. In February 1994, in Pskov, on the initiative and under the direction of the Receptor, the First All-Russian Pushkin Theater Festival, now annual, was held.
