Story
Matt Hagen has fought his way from the streets of Gotham to the polished heights of Hollywood, where fame and ambition seem within reach. His rise ends in violence when the actions of a local crime boss leave him horribly disfigured and abandoned by the people around him. With his career destroyed and his future uncertain, Matt turns to a cutting-edge treatment that restores his former appearance. The procedure brings an extraordinary second chance, along with consequences that reach far beyond the physical. As his hold on reality begins to weaken, he is pulled down a destructive path of all-consuming revenge.
Blending science fiction, horror, and thriller elements, the film follows a man caught between the identity he lost and the dangerous change taking place within him. The promise of renewal gives way to an increasingly disturbing and violent spiral.
Overview
Directed by James Watkins, Clayface is an American genre film built around the darker side of celebrity, bodily transformation, and the cost of reclaiming a life that has been taken away. Its story places Hollywood glamour beside Gotham's criminal underworld, creating a tense setting where personal trauma and ambition feed one another.
The central conflict remains human even as the premise moves into unsettling territory. Matt's wish to recover his face, career, and place in the world gradually becomes inseparable from his need for revenge. The horror comes from the unpredictable effects of the treatment, while the thriller structure keeps the character's descent focused on escalating danger.
