Story
Bruce Banner, a genetics researcher marked by a tragic past, works in a laboratory where a massive dose of radiation alters his life forever. The exposure leaves him with a terrifying and uncontrollable response: whenever anger takes hold, Banner transforms into a powerful green monster. As he struggles to understand what has happened to his body, every surge of emotion brings the threat of another transformation.
Ang Lee's Hulk combines action and science fiction with a character-driven story about fear, restraint, and the consequences of scientific experimentation. Bruce's greatest challenge lies within himself, as his intelligence and vulnerable human nature remain locked in conflict with the force that emerges when his emotions break through.
Overview
Released as an American action and science-fiction film, Hulk centers on the uneasy relationship between scientific ambition and its unpredictable consequences. The laboratory accident at the heart of the story gives the film its central tension, placing a researcher accustomed to solving problems through reason in a battle against an explosive physical alter ego.
The film moves between the measured world of genetics research and the destructive energy unleashed by Banner's anger. Its atmosphere balances personal drama with the spectacle of a man whose inner turmoil can become a force of overwhelming strength. Rather than treating the transformation as a simple superhuman gift, the story presents it as a burden that threatens Banner's control over his own identity.
Cast and Characters
Eric Bana leads the cast as Bruce Banner, the scientist at the center of the story. Jennifer Connelly, Sam Elliott, Josh Lucas, and Nick Nolte also appear in the ensemble, surrounding the protagonist as the consequences of the laboratory incident unfold.
Bruce Banner remains the film's defining character: a gifted researcher carrying a painful history and attempting to contain a power tied directly to his anger. The cast supports a story where personal relationships, scientific responsibility, and the fear of losing control meet within a high-concept action setting.
