Description:

Story

Riley is entering puberty, a stage of life that brings unfamiliar feelings and a more complicated inner world. As she tries to adjust to her teenage years, a new group of emotions arrives and unsettles the balance that once guided her. Her longtime emotions must find a way to understand these changes while facing the possibility that their place in Riley’s mind could be fading.

Blending comedy, adventure, and family storytelling, Inside Out 2 explores the confusing, sometimes humorous experience of growing up. Riley’s changing emotions turn everyday adjustment into an imaginative journey filled with uncertainty, tension, and the search for a new sense of balance.

Overview

Directed by Kelsey Mann, this American animated feature continues the emotional journey introduced in the original story. Its central idea gives the film a playful way to examine adolescence, showing how new experiences can reshape the feelings that influence a young person’s choices and reactions.

The film combines accessible family entertainment with a thoughtful look at emotional change. Its colorful inner-world premise supports a story about adaptation, identity, and the shifting relationships between familiar feelings and newly emerging ones.

Cast and Characters

The voice cast brings together Amy Poehler, Liza Lapira, Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, and Tony Hale. Their performances give personality to the ensemble of established and newly arriving emotions at the heart of Riley’s changing inner life.

Rather than centering on a single traditional hero, the film follows a group of contrasting emotional figures whose competing reactions shape Riley’s experience of adolescence. Their different perspectives create the story’s comic energy while reflecting the challenges of growing into a more complex stage of life.
