Series NCIS — 2 season, 21 episode

Story

When a young Marine is killed in Iraq, the case draws the NCIS team into a troubling investigation from his past. Evidence found among his personal belongings connects him to the unsolved murder of a girl in his hometown, prompting local police to treat him as the chief suspect. Gibbs sees gaps in that conclusion and begins examining the case from another angle, seeking the truth with help from Faith Coleman.

The investigation moves between military service, a close-knit local community and a crime that has remained unresolved for too long. As Gibbs works to test the accusations against the dead Marine, the episode builds its tension around conflicting accounts, buried evidence and the difficult task of proving innocence after the accused can no longer speak for himself.
