Story
NCIS agents uncover a disturbing link between a Marine bombing range and a series of bodies discarded there by the mafia. The discovery takes on greater urgency when one of the victims is identified as an undercover FBI agent. As the team traces the evidence through a dangerous criminal network, suspicion turns inward. Somewhere within the investigation, a mole may be protecting the people responsible, forcing the agents to question every lead and every source of information.
The episode combines procedural investigation with organized-crime tension and an atmosphere of growing mistrust. The case reaches beyond the original crime scene, drawing the team into a search for the person who has compromised the operation from within.
Overview
NCIS is an American action, crime, adventure, and drama series centered on a team of special agents handling cases connected to Navy and Marine Corps personnel. Their work brings them into contact with murder, espionage, terrorism, and other crimes that can involve anyone connected to the military, regardless of rank or position.
This fifth episode of the second season places the investigative team against a criminal organization while also testing the security of their own operation. The combination of forensic clues, military connections, undercover work, and an internal leak gives the story a tense procedural rhythm, balancing field investigation with the pressure of protecting sensitive cases from those who may be working against the team.
Cast and Characters
The episode features Mark Harmon and Sean Murray among the principal cast members. Their performances contribute to the focused ensemble dynamic at the heart of the investigation, as the agents follow the evidence, assess conflicting information, and pursue the hidden connection between the mafia and the compromised operation.
The central figures are the NCIS investigators working to identify the victims, uncover the criminal disposal network, and expose the mole. The undercover FBI agent and the Marine connection broaden the case beyond a conventional homicide inquiry, while the unseen presence of organized crime keeps pressure on every stage of the team's work.
