Phil Collins was born in 1951 in Hounslow, London. His mother was a theatrical agent, whilst his father worked in insurance. Despite appearances on the stage, his interest was in music from an early age. Collins focussed on his solo material and film soundtracks, after Genesis. In 1981, Collins he released his debut solo single, "In The Air" Tonight. He is one of only three solo artists who have sold over a 100 million records.
