Movie Lisa Frankenstein (2024)
Story
In 1989, a misunderstood teenager finds an unexpected connection with the object of her fascination: a handsome corpse brought back to life through a series of playfully macabre circumstances. Together, they set out on a dangerous search for love, happiness, and the missing body parts needed to restore him completely. Their journey moves through high school alienation, dark romance, and outrageous violence, creating a strange bond between two outsiders who discover that their desires may carry a very literal cost.
Lisa Frankenstein blends horror, comedy, and melodrama into a stylized story about longing, reinvention, and the need to be seen. The supernatural premise gives the film room for ghoulish humor, while the relationship at its center adds a tender and eccentric emotional thread. As the pair pursue their shared idea of a better life, their choices draw them into increasingly dangerous territory.
Overview
Directed by Zelda Williams, Lisa Frankenstein comes from the United States and combines gothic imagery with teenage romance and darkly comic horror. Its tone balances playful macabre situations with the heightened emotions of a coming-of-age story, allowing absurdity and sentiment to exist side by side. The film’s central pairing brings together a living teenager searching for affection and a resurrected young man struggling to reclaim a sense of wholeness.
The result is a distinctive genre hybrid for viewers who enjoy supernatural stories with a romantic core, irreverent humor, and a deliberately theatrical atmosphere. Rather than treating its premise with solemnity, the film explores its gruesome details through a mischievous and emotionally charged lens.
Cast and Characters
Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse appear at the center of the story, portraying the unusual pair whose search for intimacy sets the plot in motion. Their partnership carries the film’s blend of romance, comedy, and horror, with the characters’ shared outsider status shaping their decisions.
The supporting cast includes Joe Chrest, Carla Gugino, and Jenna Davis. Together, the performers populate a world where teenage pressures, family dynamics, romantic longing, and supernatural complications collide. The ensemble supports the film’s balance of emotional melodrama and playful horror while keeping its focus on two characters determined to create a life that fits their own definition of happiness.
