Movie Dead Talents Society (2024)
Story
In the underworld, ghosts face a fierce contest for survival: only those who can continue haunting the living have a chance to remain in the game. An unassuming young woman is drawn into this strange professional arena and must develop a performance capable of leaving a lasting impression. Her prospects depend on the guidance of a passionate agent and the experience of a once-celebrated diva whose own career has fallen into decline.
As ambition, rivalry, and performance collide, the haunting becomes a demanding craft that requires timing, presence, and a talent for reaching an audience from beyond the grave. The young ghost's journey brings together uneasy mentorship and fading celebrity, creating room for both unsettling encounters and sharply comic situations.
Overview
Dead Talents Society combines horror and comedy within a supernatural world where the dead compete for recognition. The premise turns haunting into a form of show business, giving the story a playful framework for exploring ambition, professional rivalry, mentorship, and the pressure to remain relevant.
Directed by John Hsu, the film brings together Taiwanese and American production backgrounds. Its tone balances eerie underworld competition with comic character dynamics, while the central relationship between an inexperienced performer, an enthusiastic agent, and a fallen diva provides the story with its emotional focus.
