Movie Murder Report (2025)

Story

Yeong-hoon is a serial killer responsible for the deaths of eleven people. His crimes have left behind a trail of unanswered questions, while veteran reporter Seon-joo is under mounting pressure to find a story capable of breaking through the noise. When she is offered a special interview with the murderer, the opportunity promises rare access to a figure at the center of a devastating case. Their conversation places Seon-joo face to face with Yeong-hoon and draws her deeper into the circumstances surrounding his crimes. As the interview unfolds, the boundary between reporting and personal pursuit grows increasingly difficult to maintain.

Murder Report combines drama with thriller elements, building its tension around a journalist's pursuit of a defining scoop and the unsettling presence of the man she has agreed to meet. The film keeps its focus on the confrontation between Seon-joo and Yeong-hoon, using their encounter to explore the pressure surrounding sensational crime reporting and the risks that accompany direct access to a serial killer.

Overview

Directed by Cho Young-jun, this South Korean drama thriller centers on an interview shaped by crime, ambition, and unease. The story's contained premise gives the exchange between reporter and murderer a central role, while the scale of Yeong-hoon's crimes casts a darker shadow over every question and answer. The result is a tense character-driven film about the pursuit of exclusive information and the dangerous subject at its center.

Cast and Characters

Cho Yeo-jeong, Jung Sung-il, Kim Tae-han, and Choi Su-im lead the cast. The story is anchored by two sharply defined figures: Yeong-hoon, the serial killer whose crimes form the basis of the interview, and Seon-joo, a veteran reporter determined to secure a major scoop. Their opposing positions create the film's primary dramatic tension, bringing professional ambition into direct contact with the disturbing reality of the case.
