Story
After a pandemic has devastated the worldâs population, a solitary man lives a lonesome existence inside a Colorado airplane hangar. His closest companions are his dog and a dour gunman he has befriended. Their isolated days revolve around caution and the shelter the hangar offers.
Everything shifts when the man picks up a mysterious transmission on the radio while flying his old Cessna. The sound offers no easy answers, yet it sparks a determined hunt for its origin and pulls him beyond the boundaries of his solitary life, into an uncertain journey through a changed world.
Overview
The Dog Stars combines adventure, drama and thriller elements within a stark post-pandemic setting. The story focuses on survival and isolation, while also exploring the companionship that forms in a world emptied of its former certainties. A remote airplane hangar, an old aircraft and an unexplained radio signal create the filmâs central atmosphere of solitude and restrained tension.
Directed by Ridley Scott, the film follows a personal search that gradually opens onto a larger mystery. Its Colorado setting and aviation imagery give the journey a strong sense of place, while the unexplained signal keeps the destination and the meaning of the transmission just out of reach.

Jacob Elordi leads the cast as the solitary man at the center of the story, whose encounter with the radio transmission sets the search in motion. Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin, Guy Pearce and Allison Janney also appear in the ensemble.
