Movie The Accidental Getaway Driver (2025)

Story

During what should have been a routine taxi pickup, an elderly Vietnamese cab driver is seized by three convicts who have recently escaped from custody in Orange County. Forced into the role of their getaway driver, he must navigate a dangerous situation shaped by fear, uncertainty, and the fugitives’ desperate need to stay ahead of the law. The confined space of the cab puts the driver and his captors in close and uneasy proximity, turning the story into a tense human drama within a crime-thriller framework.

Based on a true story, the film keeps its focus on the people caught inside an extraordinary crime. The driver’s vulnerability stands in contrast to the volatile situation created by the escaped prisoners, and the premise points toward themes of survival, coercion, and the line between victim and unwilling accomplice.
