Irina Gosheva

Irina Prokofievna Gosheva (March 12 [25], 1911, Arkhangelsk - March 11, 1988, Moscow) - Soviet theater and film actress, People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1963). Irina Gosheva was born in Arkhangelsk on March 12 (25), 1911. In 1932 she graduated from the Leningrad Technical School of Performing Arts and in the same year she entered the “Young Theater” under the direction of S. E. Radlov. In 1935–1940, the actress played in the Leningrad Comedy Theater under the direction of N. P. Akimov, and in 1940, at the invitation of Nemirovich-Danchenko, entered the Moscow Art Theater and served until 1974. Sergei Eisenstein was planning to film Irina Gosheva as Anastasia in the film “Ivan the Terrible”, but she was not released from the Art Theater in Almaty for filming. This is mentioned in the recording of the conversation between Stalin and S. Eisenstein and N. Cherkasov, which took place on February 26, 1947. In 1963, the actress was awarded the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR. From 1987 to 1988 she worked at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater. Irina Gosheva died in 1988 and was buried at the Nevzorovsky cemetery in Ivanteevka.
